With the battery pack, the Ranger balanced very well with the SM40+BF10 + binoviewer... the two SCT correctors enabled me to observe the full solar disc, with GREAT detail... the most beautiful object that I ever observed with a telescope!!!!
I was addicted.
prominence extends far out from the solar disc, and then curved backward to form a filament on the solar disc... hard to take image... let me learn...
my new DC is not suitable for any kind of astrophotography, huge vignetting... at any zoom.
Welcome to my astronomy blog, I dedicate myself to the simplest form of amateur astronomy which requires only portable equipment. I have two small refractors, two small binoculars, one small GOTO mount and another small equatorial mount, and a small H-alpha solar filter. Originally from a city where the people were proud of their light pollution, that is Hong Kong where I loved. Relocated to the UK since 2021.

h-alpha observation
Today, finally got some thinner cloud slit, and got a peek of the sun at hydrogen alpha at home... the 20mm ws is nice, and 13mm nagler is a bit hard to hold the view due to kidney bean.
the t-max tuner is really important, once set, several huge prominence come into the view... superb... I just want a larger slit and have some shots if possible... X(
they're fountain like... amazingg!!!

Seeing Jupiter
Just finished, now can guide with my hand using the TGSP II without major shakes, seeing very bad since it has sinked low enough... maximum exposure with toucam reveals nothing. :)
eye can see = ocassionally.

First time observe in Pak Tam Chung, quite convenient in terms of transportation. Mong Kok (Yai Ma Tei, MTR first) to Sai Kung Minibus is $13 dollar, very fast and then Minibus 9 to go to Pak Tam Chung. On the way back is even faster, since the minibus even close closer to my home... next time should get off by that one and get on a no 70 which will be very near my home.
That place was not very dark, but dark enough to be enjoyable.
Not very cool, but quite a lot of people there, noisy.
Short summary of targets that I hunted and observed: M36, M37, M38, M35, M1, M45, M42, M44, M67, M41, M79, M93 , M46, M47, M50, M48... :)
Seeing no good, since I couldn't even see cassini division despite saturn is quite high... stars are fuzzy patches of light...

Short break
Around 5am this morning, I found that Jupiter is within easy reach of my LXD55 plus Ranger, C8 will be possible too but will need to wait until it sinks lower in the sky.
Not bad indeed!!!
However, got to fix the loosing LXD55 worm gear.
